Sunset over the Dakhla desert with the White Dune visible in the distance across the lagoon, a starting point for Bluboarding guided excursions.

Guided Excursions in Dakhla

Four trip types across the Dakhla peninsula: lagoon downwinders, flatwater spot sessions, shallow-water Green Spot rides through seagrass channels, and Atlantic wave excursions. IKO guide, 4x4 transport, and safety included on every trip.

What Every Trip Comes With

IKO-Certified Guide

A qualified guide rides with you the entire trip. They read conditions, set the pace, and manage the group on the water.

Safety Briefing

Each trip starts with a rundown of the route, wind conditions, communication signals, and emergency procedures.

4x4 Vehicle Support

A support vehicle follows the group with gear, water, and first-aid equipment. It handles transport to and from every spot.

All Safety Equipment

Impact vests, helmets where needed, and communication devices provided. You bring sunscreen, water, and a towel.

The White Dune of Dakhla seen from the lagoon, the destination of the Bluboarding downwinder excursion.

White Dune Downwinder

Point-to-point ride from the main lagoon area to the White Dune. You ride downwind with the current while a 4x4 follows along the shore carrying your gear. The route covers roughly 15 km of lagoon with changing water depth and wind angles.

2-3 hours on the water (4 hours total with transport). Intermediate to advanced riders who can ride upwind. Runs at high tide with NE wind above 15 knots.

Bluboarding clients riding at Speed Spot on the flat water of the Dakhla lagoon during a guided speed session.

Speed Spot Session

Transport to a section of the main lagoon where the wind blows offshore at low tide, creating flat, glassy water. The conditions are ideal for speed runs, flat tricks, and freestyle practice. Your guide supervises the session and provides tips between runs.

2 hours on the water. Riders must be able to go upwind independently. Runs at low tide when the offshore wind flattens the surface.

The Green Spot in Dakhla at mid tide with shallow turquoise water and birds flying over the seagrass channels.

Green Spot Discovery

A remote section of the lagoon with shallow water and grass-bottom channels. You ride between patches of seagrass in calm, clear water. The spot is accessible anytime, but mid-to-high tide gives the best conditions. You get there by 4x4 or by riding downwind from the main lagoon. Kitesurf only (too shallow for wingfoil).

2-3 hours on the water. All kitesurf levels with guide supervision. Best at mid-to-high tide.

Point d'Or Wave Excursion

Ocean trip to Point d'Or, an Atlantic wave break on the outer coast of the peninsula. Your guide reads the swell, positions the group, and manages ocean safety. Works for kitesurf wave riding and surfing.

3-4 hours. Intermediate to advanced wave riders. Requires Atlantic swell (NW or W direction).

When to Do Each Excursion

Tides and wind direction determine which trips run each day. Your guide plans the schedule.

White Dune Downwinder

High tide. NE wind 15+ knots. Full lagoon for the ride.

Speed Spot Session

Low tide. Exposes the flat, glassy water the spot is known for.

Green Spot Discovery

Accessible anytime. Best at mid-to-high tide for riding between the grass.

Point d'Or Wave Trip

Atlantic swell. Works in most tides. Best with NW or W swell direction.
