Surf Lessons in Morocco

Morocco's Atlantic coastline delivers swell year-round. Dakhla's beach breaks are gentle, warm, and rarely crowded. Essaouira's coastline offers more exposed, wind-driven conditions with consistent swell. Bluboarding runs surf lessons at both locations for all levels.

Three Formats, One Progression

Private Surf Lesson

One instructor, one surfer. Your coach picks the wave, positions you in the lineup, and gives feedback after every ride. The session plan follows your progression, not a group schedule.

Semi-Private Surf Lesson

Two to four students sharing one instructor on the same break. You each get your own board and receive corrections between sets. Everyone surfs at the same time.

Group Surf Lesson

Five to eight students with one instructor. Your coach calls out which wave to take and corrects pop-up timing between sets. The energy is social and the pace suits first-timers.

What a Surf Lesson Includes

Sessions run for three hours. Unlike wind sports, surf lessons are scheduled around tide and swell conditions. Your instructor sets the time each morning based on the forecast. Surfboard, wetsuit, and rash guard are all provided. The board is matched to your weight and level. Bring swimwear, a towel, high-SPF sunscreen, a water bottle, and sunglasses with a strap.

How Your Surf Session Works

Conditions change every day, but the session structure does not. Here is what each one looks like.

Step ONE

Briefing

We check the conditions, pick the right board for your size and the waves, and set the goal for the session. If you need a warm-up on the sand, we do it before paddling out.

Step TWO

On the Water

We are in the water with you, calling out which waves to go for and correcting your positioning between sets. Whitewater first, then green waves, then turns. Each one only when the previous is consistent.

Step THREE

Debrief

We review your wave catching, timing, and what to work on next. You leave with a clear picture of where you are.

Surf Levels and Typical Progress

Beginner

First paddle to first green wave

Pop-up technique, paddling, whitewash riding, and ocean safety basics. Most surfers catch their first green waves within 6 to 8 hours of lessons.

Intermediate

Wave selection and bottom turns

Consistent wave catching, basic bottom turns, trimming along the face, and reading the lineup in different conditions.

Advanced

Snaps and bigger waves

Sessions focus on snaps, reading bigger waves, and improving positioning on steeper faces.

Built Around the Ocean

Surf instruction starts on the beach. Before anyone paddles out, we cover ocean safety, rip current awareness, and pop-up mechanics. In the water, we position ourselves to call you into waves and correct your technique between sets. Conditions change daily, so each session is built around what the ocean is doing and where your skill set is.
